Blogging Guidelines
- Learn, contribute, enjoy. This site encourages open dialogue and the free exchange of ideas.
- We want people to use this service to increase knowledge and information about Tramore, to get people actively involved in day-to-day activities in the town, and as a result to make your experience of Tramore, whether as tourist or local, the best we can.
- By enabling you to speak directly to the world, we are accepting higher risks in the interest of higher rewards. We do not want to micro manage blogs, but here is some advice to help you understand this risk and minimise.
- Link, link, link. The internet is all about links, the more relevant ones you have in your post, the more you will be helping your readers.
- You are responsible for the content you post. Putting your name to a post lends great credibility to it.
- Obey the law.
- You cannot speak officially for anyone other than yourself, without prior approval.
- Be respectful. As in the actual world, in the virtual world respect to others is greatly appreciated.
- Be interesting but be honest. Writing is hard work, make sure the effort is worth it, for you. Try to be balanced in what you write. A community site like around is a public place. People like to hear about your personality, its what sets you apart.
- Write what you know. Check your facts. This really means that it will be interesting for you to write, you will stay out of trouble and you will have fun. And you can always fix an error later.
- Don’t write anonymously. You are either speaking for yourself as an individual or in some role as the representative of a group, so say so.
- Quality matters. Use a spell checker. The best idea in the world gets better with clarity, completeness and being concise.
- Think about consequences. Words have meaning and as such please bear in mind what you say and how you say it.
- Moderate yourself, with the goal of guiding and nurturing, rather than commanding and controlling
Other peoples’ information. If information is somebody else’s, whether personal information or intellectual property, then please ask them can you use it first.
